Athlete Exclusive: Mobility and Recovery

This article will discuss effective and ineffective mobility and recovery practices. There’s plenty you should do, and possibly just as much you shouldn't worry about.
Mobility vs. Flexibility
First, let’s get this out of the way: mobility is not the same as flexibility. Flexibility is passive, while mobility is active. In short, flexibility is your muscles' ability to stretch to the extreme end of its range under external force, while mobility is your ability to actively move your joint through a normal range of motion.
Flexibility is all but useless for our purposes, because you don’t move through life in a passive way. Mobility is what we want to primarily focus on.
